The SIG P210-2: History And Specifications

The SIG P210-2 is a remarkable evolution of the iconic SIG P210 series, offering enthusiasts a practical and reliable design that retains the legendary precision of its predecessors. Manufactured with cost-effectiveness in mind, the P210-2 represents a simplified alternative to the P210-1 without sacrificing performance or quality.

Key Features of the SIG P210-2:

  • Calibers Available: 9mm Parabellum or 7.65mm Parabellum
  • Finish: Sandblasted for durability and a matte aesthetic
  • Grip Panels: Offered in both plastic or walnut options to cater to personal preferences
  • Design Philosophy: Streamlined manufacturing to reduce costs while maintaining SIG’s high standards for accuracy

The P210-2 is functionally identical to the P210-1 but features refinements in production methods, allowing for a more accessible price point. This made it a popular choice among military and law enforcement users and civilians who appreciated Swiss craftsmanship at a more affordable cost.

A Special Offering for SIG Personnel:

SIG employees could purchase the P210-2 at reduced prices, leading to unique variants assembled from components of different models. These “S-pistols” (with “S” standing for Schönheitsfehler, German for “cosmetic defects”) were fully functional but often displayed minor imperfections in finish. Despite these flaws, collectors seek S-pistols due to their rarity and connection to SIG’s internal history.

Why the SIG P210-2 Stands Out:

Its simplified design doesn’t compromise the hallmark precision of the SIG P210 platform. For enthusiasts and collectors alike, the P210-2 represents an opportunity to own a piece of SIG’s storied past, complete with the charm of its unique variations.

Whether you’re drawn to its functionality, history, or aesthetics, the SIG P210-2 is an enduring testament to Swiss firearm excellence.

The Specs and information on the different gun models listed below are based on Das Grosse Buch der SIG-Pistolen, “The Big Book of SIG Pistols,” by Lorenz Vetter.
