John Adams Engraved Colt 3rd Gen Single Action Army Revolver

Description

There are engraved Colts, and then there are engraved Colts by John Adams. This 1992 Colt 3rd Generation Single Action Army Revolver carries the unmistakable signature of a true master, blending precision with personality in a way that only Adams could.

At first glance, it’s the harmony that draws you in. A delicate band encircles the muzzle and frame, leading into flowing floral scrollwork that dances across the barrel and frame. Even the front sight isn’t left plain; it’s been touched by the engraver’s hand, proof that Adams didn’t believe in half measures.

About 85 percent of the frame is covered in rich, flowing scrollwork. The design transitions seamlessly into starburst flourishes at the cylinder pin release and the ejector rod housing, then arcs into a radiant fan along the recoil shield and loading gate. The patent dates are neatly framed on a ribbon, a subtle nod to Colt’s heritage and the engraver’s eye for balance.

The artistry continues across the cylinder, trigger guard, and back strap, keeping the pattern cohesive from every angle. Adams signed his name twice beneath the grip on the back strap and once more along the underside of the barrel, with the date “6.7.95” carefully inscribed between. It’s the quiet confidence of a master who knew his work would speak for itself.

Then there are the grips carved from steer heads with pierced horns that follow the natural curve of the wood. They give the revolver a sense of life and movement, perfectly complementing the steel beneath.

Still resting in its original blue Colt box with the matching shipping carton, this revolver remains in stunning condition. More than 99 percent of its nickel finish gleams, interrupted only by light handling marks that remind you it’s been admired, not forgotten.
