Specifications

  • Slide: Marked with the weapon number and SIG logo.
  • Grip Frame: Displays the weapon number, designation, and Danish crown, with additional markings for HTK (Haerens Tekniske Korps, Army Technical Corps) or FKF (Forsvarets Krigsmateriel Forvaltning, Defense War Material Administration).
  • Barrel: Stamped with the weapon number.
  • Receiver: Marked with up to the last four digits of the weapon number.

Production and Deliveries

  • Prototype Deliveries:
    • 1948: SP 47/8 prototype, No. 6549.
    • 1951: 12 prototypes, Nos. 6875 to 6886.
    • 1953: 2 prototypes, Nos. 6900 and 6901.
  • Mass Deliveries:
    • 1948: 14,000 pistols to HTK.
    • 1951: 2,607 pistols to HTK.
    • 1953: 3,600 pistols to FKF.
    • 1954: 5,306 pistols to FKF.
    • 1962: 1,417 pistols to HTK.

Some models featured rare aluminum grip frames, with production numbers ranging from 16090–16095.

Variants

HTK (Weapon Numbers 0001–16607):

  • Finish: Polished slide and grip frame.
  • Grips: Wooden grip scales with a lanyard loop.

Features:

  • Flat slide catch and smooth bulge contour.
  • Firing pin secured with a cover plate.
  • Hammer without a safety notch.
  • Standard front sight, zeroed to 30 meters.

FKF (Weapon Numbers 16608–25513):

  • Finish: Sandblasted slide and grip frame.
  • Grips: Plastic grip scales.
  • Features: Same as HTK pistols except for aesthetic differences.

HTK for German Federal Border Guard (Weapon Numbers 35025–36441):

Modifications:

  • Added loading indicator.
  • Removed lanyard loop.
  • Grooved, bulged slide catch.
  • Hammer with safety notch.

Post-Service Sale and Classification

In July 1995, Hämmerli in Lenzburg acquired 26,943 Army pistols (HTK and FKF). These were graded and resold in four conditions:

  • A: 1st Series HTK – Very good condition, used.
  • B: 2nd Series FKF – Very good condition, used.
  • C: HTK and FKF – Overhauled.
  • D: HTK and FKF – Heavily used condition.

The Danish Army Pistol SIG 9 mm P m/49 remains a collectible treasure emblematic of Danish military history and SIG’s precision engineering. Its variations and production history offer a fascinating insight into mid-20th-century firearm development.

Special features:

Delivered as a prototype pistol to the Danish War Material Administration on February 19, 1953. This weapon is recorded in the SIG archives under No. 6900 FKF.

On the slide, right side: No. 16090; left side: No. 16090, SIG logo. Grip frame: Aluminum, black anodized. Small production series within the number range 0001 to 16607 HTK. According to SIG communication, this weapon belongs to a test batch for aluminum grip frames.

According to the communication from December 22, 1994, numbers 16090 to 16093 were delivered to the Danish National Police. However, it is not specified whether they were equipped with steel or aluminum grip frames. Double numbering is also possible.

Barrel equipped with an extra-strong spring, type “S”. A total of three Perunal prototypes were manufactured for the Danish National Police. Numbers 16090 to 16093. The SIG factory cannot confirm whether these pistols were double-numbered.
