Description
This rare Colt Combat Python, serial T74591, is a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship of the 1988 production model. One of only 510 made exclusively for Lew Horton Distributors, with an additional 300 for international markets, it features a distinctive 3-inch ventilated rib barrel, complete with a red ramp front sight and the “COMBAT PYTHON” marking on the left, exuding elegance and precision.
Fitted initially with service stocks, this revolver has since been upgraded to factory Colt Python target grips adorned with gold Colt medallions, enhancing its collector’s appeal. Except for the hammer sides, the revolver is finished in a deep, polished Colt blue. Notable features include an Accro rear sight with a white outline blade and a finely serrated trigger, contributing to its exceptional handling and accuracy.
This Combat Python comes with its original maroon box, styrofoam inserts, paperwork, and a 2023 Colt factory letter verifying its status as one of 43 firearms shipped to Lew Horton’s of Southboro, MA, on March 10, 1988.
Condition-wise, the revolver is in near-excellent shape. The frame’s blue finish has been factory-restored to a mirror-like sheen, and the original barrel finish remains pristine. Internally, it appears unfired, and the cylinder bears only a faint turn line and minimal finish wear near the flutes. The bore and grips are likewise near-perfect, making this Combat Python a highly desirable piece for any severe Colt collector. Its impeccable condition is a testament to its quality and care of ownership.
