Description
PRESENTATION MODEL PEACEMAKER SAA REVOLVERS. Both: cals. 45 colt. S#: PE301-E & PE301-W. These revolvers, with their rich history, are a testament to the legacy of William Hepburn Russell, Alexander Majors, & William Bradford Waddell, who formed the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company. The company, a prominent freight, mail, & passenger transport company in the mid-19th century, is most famous for establishing the Pony Express. Bbls. 7 1/2″ w/ presentation markings. Full nickel finishes.
Two-piece walnut grips with rampant colt medallions. Each revolver is supplied with three cylinders. No. 1 is the standard fluted configuration. No. 2 is round-engraved with a Pony Express trail map. No. 3 round with Pony Express markings has a horse & rider motif with a portrait of the three founders—third-generation revolvers. In 1966, a limited number of 1004 revolvers were manufactured, making these a rare find. The cased revolvers were sold as singles, pairs, or 4-gun sets, further enhancing their exclusivity.
Unattached accessories: The original glass-fronted display case, with a red cloth-fitted interior, showcases the revolvers and extra cylinders. While the case exterior shows some signs of wear, the revolvers themselves are in excellent condition. Gun 1 (S# PE301-E) and all cylinders appear unused, retaining virtually all nickel finish, ensuring their pristine condition for the buyer.
The left grip panel is missing a large chip at the toe—a bright, near-excellent bore. Gun 2 (S# PE301-W) and all cylinders appear unused, retaining virtually all nickel finish. The left grip panel has a small dent and chip at the butt. Bright, near-excellent bore. (23-6067, 23-6068/DS).
